Behind the name Mr Day, lies a band led by singer, guitarist, DJ & collector Eric Duperray. From the mid-90's Eric begins to make a name for himself with the group Kool Cats Club and tours a lot in the Acid Jazz scene, repeatedly making the first part of the label's leading bands like Corduroy or Mother Earth.
In 2003, Eric works alongside Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart, a real starting point for a collaboration that will take them on very different playgrounds, with notable successes including, among others, the classic "Yonuwhathislifeez" under the name Metropolitan Jazz Affair, the incredible 45s "Seven Nation Army / Move On Up" by The Dynamics, the recent hit by Mr President, "The Best Is Yet To Come" or the track "Food For Soul" available on this new album, and which already received recognition before its release (international ad soundtrack for Nespresso, compilation Psyche on Acid-Jazz and finally the soundtrack for Alexander Coffre's latest movie).

Meanwhile, Eric and Bruno formed the band Mr Day in 2007, with experienced Jazz and Rock musicians. Without waiting they release a series of 45's, EPs and start touring, which leads to their first album, Small Fry, released in 2010 on Favorite Recordings. Small Fry not only receives a warm welcome, it also lays a solid foundation for a real band and a unique sound.

Today, the project Mr Day keeps affirming itself. During the writing of this second album, the band evolved naturally towards a more ambitious sound which clearly set them at the intersection of Rock and Soul from the 60s to now. The band also decided to use 100% analog production and recording techniques: magnetic tapes, live takes and cracklings contribute to producing a rich and organic sound. However, Mr Day is far from being a revival band. On the contrary, Dry Up In The Sun appears resolutely timeless, that is to say in his vintage, yet modern approach. The beats perfectly coexist alongside the guitars, as in the great era of Primal Scream in the 90s. The alchemy seems perfect and natural on each of the 10 tracks that make up this inspired and mastered sophomore work.

Favorite Recordings presents this new official album reissue of The Parker Brothers: Maybe one of the best Blue-Eyed-Soul/Modern-Soul private-press albums you can imagine, surprisingly highly unknown and underrated.Produced in 1981 by George P Grexa and released in a private-press version on his label Crown Vetch Enterprises, this album is filled with memorable material from the first note to the last, mixing Modern-Soul, Boogie, cross-over Jazz and Rock elements, for a result reminiscent of the WestCoast music’ golden years, however being recorded in Pittsburgh. As one of the longtime favorite collectable piece for Charles Maurice, it’s a real honor and proud for Favorite Recordings, to finally officially reissue it from the original master tapes and for the first time on vinyl.
Discover Le Deltaplane, fifth album by Andre Solomko, and third produced on Favorite Recordings, pursuing a collaboration that started more than 5 years ago.Born in Ukraine in 1965 and now based in Finland, Andre Solomko is primarily a rich and engaging personality, but above all, a brilliant saxophonist, composer and engineer, whose contagious passion cannot leave anyone indifferent. After beginning a meteoric career in USSR, fate led him to Finland, where he started the adventure Vinyl Jam, a label / studio / group. It resulted in two self-produced albums that will capture the attention of some international collectors, including Pascal Rioux (founder of Favorite Recordings). Between 2012 and 2014, they released 2 albums together, Où es-tu maintenant ? and Le Polaroid, hailed by many tastemakers and meeting notable success in Japan.Following Le Premier Disco Sans Toi, an acclaimed single released earlier this year and unveiling two new compositions with Disco flavors, Andre Solomko and Favorite Recordings also proudly present Le Deltaplane. Fully composed and arranged by Andre Solomko, the 6 tracks of the album are deeply infused with his longtime passion for Jazz-Funk and Movie-Soundtracks, this time also injecting more influences from WestCoast and Modern-Soul music.Andre’s backed again by a team of great musicians, recording and producing the album in analog like he always did. As for vocals and lyrics, he teams up with Charlotta Kerbs, a young emerging and talented singer from Helsinki.Andre Solomko, an artist who spreads love like in the good old days!
French-based label La Bestiole Records back with another release of dancefloor-ready jams with influences from around the world. Previous releases have been played by some great names in the DJ game : MCDE, Or:la, Waxist, Flegon, Red Greg, Barbara Boeing...With this one, the label continues to blur the line between edit and production, with two tracks by Italian-born and Barcelona-based pacific bureau on the A-side, and three tracks by label head Baerlz on the B-side.BEST005 begins with “Time of Lovers”, a delicate house take based on Japanese chopped samples. A2 is the very energetic and funky “Untitled (Versione Veloce)”, turning a synthpop song into a fast ghetto house tune. B-side continues the ghetto feeling (but with a romantic r’n’b touch) with “Ankileichen Part 1”, then goes dirty with “Soul Mayo”, a mix between jazzy piano riffs and hard beats. Last track “Baerdz” gives a deep and subtle end to the EP, with harp glissandi invoquing bird flight. As always with the label, some funky locked grooves complete this limited vinyl only release.

Brazilian Disco Boogie Sound is a compilation that brings together nine of the most important and obscure hits of the Brazilian Funk-Boogie-Disco scene during the years of 1978 to 1982. Following its acclaimed release in late 2014, Favorite Recordings now present a great additional 12inch single package, including exclusive extended versions by Nick The Record, Waxist and Charles Maurice. The 3 DJs provide new exclusive extended versions of Painel De Controle, Rabo De Saia, and Famks’ killing originals tracks.
Driven by a vicious and visceral soul, The Buttshakers are known for their fierce and fiery music.Yet after nearly a decade of touring and recording, it was with a different musical vision that they approached Sweet Rewards, their first collaboration with Underdog Records. Accustomed to the raw, primitive sounds of 60s garage rock and the crude sexuality of pre-Motown soul music, A sound they could have continued to dig into again and again. Instead, they decided to take another route: a creative shift, a return to a style of soul music that no longer has to rely on pure energy alone. Exceeding the limitations imposed by their tight yet powerful six person lineup, they opened up this studio session to fully accommodate their ideas and concretize their musical ambitions: a larger horn section creates a richer, scintillating sonority; a touch of slide-guitar opens their creative universe to the open spaces of the far West; the organ vacillates between psychedelic drapery and heartfelt gospel tones; all of this supported by the wicked groove of a percussionist driving the beat on. Their sultry and soulful frontwoman, Ciara Thompson, is here for the first time supported by backing vocalist. An occasion for her to indulge in a few call and- response chorales, a reverence to a gospel background instilled in her from her native St Louis (Missouri), a still vibrant heritage from the city that cradled jazz, blues, country and folk music. Ideal for a sound that never lets down yet remains intuitive to the gradual rise of emotion each song demands. With each new listening, Sweet Rewards reveals something new to the listener: another dimension, a hidden layer.
