Release date

French-based label La Bestiole Records back with another release of dancefloor-ready jams with influences from around the world. Previous releases have been played by some great names in the DJ game : MCDE, Or:la, Waxist, Flegon, Red Greg, Barbara Boeing...

With this one, the label continues to blur the line between edit and production, with two tracks by Italian-born and Barcelona-based pacific bureau on the A-side, and three tracks by label head Baerlz on the B-side.

BEST005 begins with “Time of Lovers”, a delicate house take based on Japanese chopped samples. A2 is the very energetic and funky “Untitled (Versione Veloce)”, turning a synthpop song into a fast ghetto house tune. B-side continues the ghetto feeling (but with a romantic r’n’b touch) with “Ankileichen Part 1”, then goes dirty with “Soul Mayo”, a mix between jazzy piano riffs and hard beats. Last track “Baerdz” gives a deep and subtle end to the EP, with harp glissandi invoquing bird flight.

As always with the label, some funky locked grooves complete this limited vinyl only release.

Wan Chai Records is a Hong-Kong based label, specialized in rare Asian records and quality reissues. After a few years of hard diggin’ in Asia, meeting the artists and many local figures of the 60’s, 70’s and 80’s Scene in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Taiwan, they wanted to share their best finds and put them together on vinyl with the best productions ever made in Soul-Jazz, Disco, Funk, Modern-Soul, and AOR.The result is a selection of 10 totally unknown gems sung mostly in English and Cantonese with amazing covers of classics like “Lovin’ You”, “Make Me Believe In You”, or “Hurt So Bad” in a nice Artwork Gatefold LP.
After his first adventure in the endless universe of instrumental music where he made known “Man With a Plan” in 2018, Minus & MRDolly now presents the new EP Broken Hearts Make Broken Beats. This new work is the result of a recording session at the Groove-Wood studios promoted by João André - who mixes two of the three originals of the EP - to which Hugo Danin joined on drums and Sérgio Alves on keyboards and electric piano. In trio, Minus, Hugo and Sérgio rearranged and explored the original sketches, previously composed by Minus & MRDolly.Floating, or as if to say, with one “foot inside and the other outside” of his so familiar home that is Hip Hop, “BHMBB” is the reflection of some musical references previous to that house, where “Britfunk” or “Broken Beat” serves as an example. This EP intends to marry the acoustic character of the interpretation with the aesthetic and electronic universe of dance music.“Salame”, “The Break” and “A Thousand Miles”, the three originals that make up the EP Broken Hearts Make Broken Beats, also count on the participation of percussionists Manu Idhra and Rui Ferreira, the voice of Mary Raisekings, and the Pardal saxophone. The theme "The Break" has remixes by Pedro and Max Graef.
Favorite Recordings presents this new official album reissue of State of Emmergency by French band The Fizz: A real underrated, complete and intriguing album, originally released in 1986 as a private-press LP and quite hard to find in good conditions nowadays. The Fizz is mostly the result of Patrick Jouanneau, a French musician, composer and producer who’s still active today. He remembers: “In the early 80's I had a recording studio allowing me to easily fulfil my desire to create songs. It was then that I began to compose and write songs, in French or in English in this case. State Of Emergency (spelling on the LP is a mistake), is born from a fierce will on my part, and the other four have followed, but it was not easy, the musicians, you have to get them out of bed! I have to say that Richard Larozé, the pianist, was a very strong guy with harmonies, and has somewhat changed my first version, much more oriented in Soul and R&B.”And when asked about his main influences, Patrick says: “It’s always difficult for me to speak about influences, out of respect, and humility especially, but they nourished us and nourished this project; Stevie Wonder, Al Jarreau, Earth, Wind & Fire, and so on, were and still are important to me and this was the case for the entire FIZZ group.”At the end, State of Emmergency by The Fizz is a very interesting and brilliant album with great inspiration in melodies and compositions. And who knows, listening to the title "A So Called Being", it could even have inspired a certain “King of Pop”...
After "Folie Douce" his first single released in 2018 on Cracki Records, Braque de Weimar finally releases his first EP! Between French boogie, rap and electronic music, Braque navigates between genres without ever forgetting to make us dance!
After Nick Holder and Enrico Mantini, Deep & Roll strikes harder with the upcoming first release by P.U.M.P., including 3 cuts of underground House Music. On Side A, “Denial” starts seriously with a strict beat on a weird synth line, a driving bass and that hypnotic vocal. “You Got Me Burnin'” will revive your soul vibes with some old school drums and vocals on top of jazzy sampled instruments. B side features “Finish Already”, heavy floor filler that we don't mind keeping bouncin' on and on. Can’t wait to spread this dope wax on the dancefloors !
The French-Hong Kong DJ and producer Romain FX, founder of Fauve Radio and Fauve Records, debuts on Cracki Records ! After having made his mark on renowned labels such as Exploited, Eskimo Recordings, Novaj 新し, LAGASTA, Fantastic Voyage, Mamie's Records or Hard Fist Records, the ultra-productive artist is about to release Le Sucre d'Adam a new EP of 4 tracks and 2 remixes with the Parisian label Cracki Records.Mixing Italian dream house, jazz, and Italo Disco, Romain FX wanted to create with this EP a timeless record and convey a message of hope for a better world. The first track "Zeste d'Orange" is full of joyful emotions, with a feeling of unity and sharing, strongly influenced by 80-90's pop songs like "Rise Up" by The Parachute Club, and "Send Me On My Way" by Rusted Roots. With its melancholic keyboards, "Le Sucre d'Adam" is a pure concentrate of Italo Dream House, and it's not a coincidence that Romain FX entrusted the remix of the track to the German Lauer, specialist of the genre. "Italominati" with its powerful bass, draws him in the field of the fairy, influenced by artists like Todd Terje or Skatebård. It is the Korean producer Shubostar, new figure of the dark disco scene, who took care of the remix for a very effective cosmic version ! Last track of the EP, "Crave Cave Rave" with its Rave UK and progressive house accents was imagined as a long DJ Set closing. Intense and heavy at the beginning, the track ends with a feeling of extreme release, closing the EP in the most beautiful way.
