In the 80s, a Nigerian DJ named Hycentto Junior was notorious for making Onitsha people dance on his grooves. Soon, influenced by U.S hip-hop artists, he began rapping on top of the music he played.His eccentric style drew the attention of the biggest name, and the famous Nkono Teles decided to work with him on his next LP, Mama Groove. Their project was released in 1991. Due to unfortunate circumstances, the number of copies available was really low, making it very hard to find.More than 25 years later, working for a motor company, Hycentto met online with French music passionate collective “Lorem Ipsum”, that had randomly found his Mama Groove LP.The result is a reissue auditioning all the 1991 Mama Groove’s tracks and two bonuses selected from his first 1984 album, At A Party Last Night. The unique variety of sounds and genres, covering Electro Hip-Hop, Digi Reggae and Disco-Funk, will carry you from poolside to late night dancefloors!

Hailing from the hills of Montmartre (Paris) the man behind Soul Sugar, Guillaume "Gee" Metenier, is regarded as one of Europe's most prolific keyboard players. His passion for the Hammond B3 has led him to study under the guidance of legendary Jazz master Dr. Lonnie Smith. The heavily vintage sound is no coincidence, as other classic keyboards like the Fender Rhodes, Clavinet, or Minimoog round out his studio arsenal. His influences include a vast heritage of Soul and Jazz greats such as Jimmy Smith, Jimmy McGriff, Booker T, Art Neville, or Reggae legends Jackie Mitoo and Augustus Pablo."Gee" was an integral part of Electronic outfit, Seven Dub, which gained certain notoriety in the emerging French scene in the late 90s, releasing a number of singles and albums as well as remixes for artists such as Femi Kuti, King Tubby vs. Horace Andy, and Sly & Robbie, to name a few. As a musician, Guillaume has collaborated with the likes of The Last Poets, Alain Bashung, Kid Loco, Grant Phabao, Gizelle Smith, The Mighty Mocambos, Blundetto and many more. He also released a handful of notable singles as Soul Sugar, such as "Ritual" (Mocambo Records), "East Of The River Nile" or "Why Can't We Live Together" (Gee Recordings), and an album called Nothing But The Truth (Freestyle Records).The latest outing from Soul Sugar, Chase The Light, is a fusion of roots Reggae, Psychedelic Soul and Funk grooves, showcasing heavy instrumentals and powerful songs. Recorded in France and Kingston (Jamaica) with Yvo Abadi on drums, drummer dubmaster Jahno, and guitarist extraordinaire Thomas Naim, with vocals by Courtney John, who's falsetto stylings and lyrical poetry features on two tracks (one including a special appearance by Dr Lonnie Smith) and Leonardo Carmichael, over a heavy riddim revision of the classic "Why Can't We Live Together". The analog production delivers solidly, taking no prisoners and keeping the groove alive, the whole collection of tracks simply rocks... Chase The Light brings together a bombastic blend of timeless sounds, highest level of cool for impeccable taste. CD comes with bonus dub versions of all the tracks.

Square represents a major turning point in the career of the pioneer of nu reggae. An extraordinary architect of studio production and multi-instrumentalist who records, mixes and produces but also, for several years, performs on stage with his musicians. After recording Square, he started touring alone, equipped with a machine he designed and built with Midi controllers to launch original samples and loops - an autarky assumed from one end of the process to the other. “You have to master all the tools to deliver what you want”, he has been saying for years... Yet, this Square is wide open: old school rhythms or techno-like approaches, vintage dub or futuristic take offs, thick sound basses and melodies, scraped to the bone…All this is Flox, a solid innovator who never stops renewing his nu reggae, a maniacal craftsman who regulates, to the micron, tracks of perfect simplicity of access. His trademark is this highly spatialized form of reggae, with an enveloping sound, which seems to take the artist and the listener into a shared bubble; as padded as tense.

One of the two new 7" from All Nations Records coming early 2022 is a rework of a legendary tune that all reggae fans know. “I Know Myself” from Ernest Wilson has been a regular play by all champion sounds from Sir Cosxone to Jah Shaka and alikes since late 70’s. Never would be the intention to do better, but All Nations Records likes to do his thing a little bit different, so Simon Nyabinghi has rebuilt the tune entirely in his studio in 2022 style.With a clever recipe of carefully picked sounds and a grooving way of playing, it has the original vibes with a bouncing twist that should suit to all original fans and beyond. All in all, a great humble tribute to a legendary artist sadly gone to zion earlier in 2021.
