Following his recent trilogy albums; The Great Depression, We Got Lost and Wisdom Of Life, Doctor L (aka Liam Farrell) teams up again with Comet for a special limited vinyl edition of the best tracks from this trilogy: Immigrant For Ever.Sound activist for twenty-five years, DOCTOR L go through the musical galaxies as an incandescent comet, still fusioning from the 80’s Punk Rock, to Hip-Hop music, and from the start of Electronica, to the rebirth of the international Afrobeat.In years 2000, already on the label Comet Records, he was able to bring Lagos´ afrobeat towards the third millennium with the album Black Voices from Tony Allen, and then even sent him to the moon, with the special opus Psyco On Da Bus.More recently Liam Farrell produced the successful debut album of the Congolese band Mbongwana Star described by Rolling Stones USA as “heady and high-energy Afrofuturist collaboration”Liam Farrell is one the most innovative producers of music from Africa. Immigant for Ever by Doctor L will be released in LP late September 2015.

Bruno "Patchworks" Hovart is clearly a name to remember when it comes to modern groove music! Bassist and guitarist in various band, he started production in the mid- 90s and continues today to combine modern technology with the raw and genuine spirit of the golden age of Disco, Funk, Soul, or Jazz.Following the success of his many projects such as Uptown Funk Empire, The Dynamics, Metropolitan Jazz Affair, or more recently Patchworks Galactic Project, he proved album after album, a true gift of musical ubiquity, renewing in all genres and always anxious to borrow unexpected ways.Back on Favorite Recordings label for this new solo album as Mr President, he finally provides us with a sequel to Number One (2011), first album with whom he was welcomed and praised by international media and tastemaker (NOVA, Okayplayer, Gilles Peterson, JAZZ FM, Laurent Garnier,...).Faithful to his love for Disco and Funk from the 70s and 80s, Hips Shaking however differs from its predecessor by digging more into Pop music, but also by a more elaborate production, with real horn and strings sections invited around Patchworks. However still key to everything and polyvalent, he not only composes the whole album and plays a good part of the instruments, but this time also devotes to singing!From Roy Ayers to MFSB , through Vince Montana and Patrick Adams, or Michael McDonald and Ned Doheny, this Hips Shaking proudly look at the sound and production of the pioneer heroes, while infusing with Disco, Pop, Electronic and Fusion influences, which have made the Patchworks’ touch: an authentic sound with a modern approach to music!

Since the release of his 2 first albums on Favorite Recordings, Lucas Arruda has quickly established himself as one of the most talented young artist and composer from Brazil. His music is filled with fusion style, mixing influences and elements from his Latin musical background, with his genuine admiration for Jazz, Soul, Pop and Funk music.In spring 2015, it was also not surprising to find Lucas Arruda back with a new LP called Solar, receiving great supports and feedbacks from international media and tastemakers. One of the highlight of the album was the song “Melt the Night”, on which Lucas teamed up with legendary producer Leon Ware, reminding his collaborations in the 80s with Marcos Valle, when they perfectly merged together the sophisticated Boogie and AOR touch from California, with the blazing sense of rhythm from Brazil.Today Favorite Recordings proudly present Onda Nova, new and third album by Lucas Arruda. Mostly written, composed and arranged by himself, Lucas however teams up on a few tracks with his old mate Fabricio di Monaco (Modo Solar), his brother and musical partner Thiago Arruda, who recently joined Ed Motta’s live band, or Gaël Benyamin, also known as Geyster, who brings his longtime “savoir-faire” and skills for writing and composing AOR and WestCoast music genre, and who share this deep passion with Lucas.Onda Nova is therefore pursuing the music direction set with Solar, mixing touch of Blue-Eyed-Soul, Pop, Soul and Brazilian styles together, and influenced by the path of legendary Brazilian producer Lincoln Olivetti, who recorded some of the biggest stars of Brazilian music (Marcos Valle, Jorge Ben, Tim Maia…).In Lucas words: “In this record I really wanted to honor Robson Jorge & Lincoln Olivetti. They are the main influence on this record. We recorded the basic tracks for the album in the same studio that Lincoln Olivetti did his last works. So, this was very important to capture the true essence of Brazilian Funk/AOR tradition. Hope you guys enjoy it!”

Driven by a vicious and visceral soul, The Buttshakers are known for their fierce and fiery music.Yet after nearly a decade of touring and recording, it was with a different musical vision that they approached Sweet Rewards, their first collaboration with Underdog Records. Accustomed to the raw, primitive sounds of 60s garage rock and the crude sexuality of pre-Motown soul music, A sound they could have continued to dig into again and again. Instead, they decided to take another route: a creative shift, a return to a style of soul music that no longer has to rely on pure energy alone. Exceeding the limitations imposed by their tight yet powerful six person lineup, they opened up this studio session to fully accommodate their ideas and concretize their musical ambitions: a larger horn section creates a richer, scintillating sonority; a touch of slide-guitar opens their creative universe to the open spaces of the far West; the organ vacillates between psychedelic drapery and heartfelt gospel tones; all of this supported by the wicked groove of a percussionist driving the beat on. Their sultry and soulful frontwoman, Ciara Thompson, is here for the first time supported by backing vocalist. An occasion for her to indulge in a few call and- response chorales, a reverence to a gospel background instilled in her from her native St Louis (Missouri), a still vibrant heritage from the city that cradled jazz, blues, country and folk music. Ideal for a sound that never lets down yet remains intuitive to the gradual rise of emotion each song demands. With each new listening, Sweet Rewards reveals something new to the listener: another dimension, a hidden layer.
